Charity, played by Mary Miles Minter, and her brother are taken in by Merlin Durand after the death of their mother. Durand has previously been disowned by his millionaire father until he can prove that he is capable of earning a week's salary. Merlin Durand takes off, and Charity, along with her brother, take refuge in his house. They are soon joined by a burgler (played by Aitken), a bum and another reprobate.

Simon Durand, the miserable father, eventually returns to his home and hires the trespassers to replace his servants after being charmed by Charity. Merlin then returns, with a weeks pay, and a happy ending ensues as the father and son reconcile with Mary's prompting.
